Traveling as a Multi-hyphenate Creative

There are so many things to consider when traveling as a creative.

What to bring? How do you create balance? Where do you find inspiration? How does one be productive when on vacation?


The truth is, traveling can be tough for a creative person. It's hard to turn off the constant buzzing in your head, especially when you're in a new place with unfamiliar faces and unfamiliar rules.

That being said, I think it's important to travel as much as possible — because there are so many benefits.


For me, traveling helps me stay balanced by keeping me inspired, by giving me new ideas and by providing an outlet for my creativity. It allows me to experience new cultures and not escape from my "always on the go" lifestyle but rest.


I recently went to Aruba and this was the second international trip where I could lay by the pool or beach and not feel the need to do something. Of course I created balance between exploring the city but not feeling succumbed to do activities everyday.



If you're wanting to make sure you're creating balance, here are some tips on how to travel as a creative and still enjoy your vacation:


1) Bring what's necessary: This may seem obvious but it's important nonetheless. I always travel with my

2) Plan ahead: If you're traveling somewhere new, try to do some research before hand so that you know what kind of activities are available at your destination and when they're open or closed. This will help ensure that your time there is spent wisely and efficiently — not just wandering around aimlessly because you didn't know where else to go.


3) Try to relax! The easiest way for me to get content was while I was getting ready, getting little clips here and there that I knew I could use to make content. Take pictures - once you get what you need be present
